Elizabeth City is a small city in North Carolina, located in Pasquotank and Camden Counties. It is the heart of a larger metropolitan area and is known as the "Harbor of Hospitality" because of its long shipping history. It's located at the narrowing of the Pasquotank River and still retains extensive waterfront property.

Area Landmarks & Hotspots

This is simply a sampling and will be elaborated on later. Initially, PCs may not spend as much time at their home base.


Albemarle Hospital: The primary hospital in Elizabeth City though patients can be airlifted elsewhere for specialty care.

Camden County Heritage Museum: Hosted in the old jail (circa 1910).

Carolina Theatre & Grille: Located in downtown Elizabeth City, this theater hosts historic movies that can be watched while eating dinner in a historic setting.

Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City: Located directly south of the city limits, this base was recently incorporated into Homeland Security.

College of the Albemarle: Community college adjacent to Albemarle Hospital.

Episcopal Cemetary: Located on Ehringhaus Street in Elizabeth City, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It contains an important collection of gravestones and cast iron fences.

Dismal Swamp Canal: The oldest continually operating man-made canal in the US.

Elizabeth City State University: Historically African American college known for aviation science and doctor of pharmacy programs. It also hosts a planetarium frequently offering lectures and multimedia productions.

Mariners' Wharf: Located on the waterfront.

Mid-Atlantic Christian University: A private Christian institution located downtown.

Museum of the Albemarle: A museum focused on the history and regional culture of the Albemarle Region.

Southgate Mall: A small mall with a cinema and a few local shops.

The Framery: Old antique shop on Poindexter Street.
